ABOUT ME

I know what it’s like to feel like stress and anxiety are running your life. For years, I tried to hide it, outrun it, or push it away. Nothing really helped—until I learned how to stop fighting my body and start listening to it. That’s when everything began to shift.

Now, I help women and teen girls do the same. My work is grounded in compassion, nervous system regulation, and mind-body awareness. Together, we gently uncover the roots of overwhelm and create space for healing—without bypassing or fixing, but by feeling and re-patterning with care.

You don’t have to stay stuck in survival mode. There’s a way through—and it begins by coming back to yourself.

Why I Came To This Work

The year I turned 40, just after swimming the Maui Channel Relay, I had a huge family fight and my last Panic Attack. That was my wakeup call to train myself in how to dial down crisis mode to take care of myself and my family.
Now, after thousands of hours of yoga and somatic coaching, I teach other high achieving women how to end panic attacks, manage anxiety and stress and find lasting peace and calm in mind and body. This enables them to sleep better, improve relationships, communicate more effectively and be more present without the intrusive thoughts of anxiety.

What Are Somatics?

Somatics refers to practices that use the mind-body connection to help you tune into your internal experience and listen to the signals your body is sending—especially around pain, tension, or imbalance. These practices gently guide you to notice how your body holds onto past experiences, emotions, and stress.

By combining this awareness with natural movement, breath, and sometimes gentle touch, somatic work supports your body’s ability to release, regulate, and heal. It’s a compassionate, body-centered approach to wellness that helps you feel more connected, safe, and at home in yourself.

Testimonials

"Before I was working with Katherine, my anxiety was controlling my life. I felt that I was consumed by it and I was exhausted, frustrated, and embarrassed by how much it affected my everyday life. After working with Katherine, I feel stronger and more in control of my life because I am not so afraid of anxiety anymore. I feel bolder, braver, and more confident because I have strategies to dial it down when the feelings of anxiety come on."

-Cora Campbell

"Before working with Katherine, I was feeling anxious and at my breaking point. Whenever “one more thing” would happen, I would snap at my kids and implode in my head because I couldn’t handle the overwhelm. While working with Katherine, I learned some breathing techniques and began listening to my body and where the sensations were and allowing them to be noticed instead of ignoring them or being upset by them. I was also able to use some of the techniques with my kids when they were overwhelmed and exhibiting either behavioral or physical issues. After learning these tools I have confidence I can respond to my anxiety (and I have!) and even appreciate what it’s telling me so that the long term effects (including body pain) won’t plague me down the road. "

-Andrea Pritchett, D.C.

"Being able to put the tools into practice to help me let go and understand that it is a choice to let anxiety control me or not. To realize that thoughts are not facts, and that I am capable of letting the thoughts go like leaves floating down a stream, or clouds passing by in the sky."

-Julie Reid

More About Me

I’ve been practicing and teaching yoga for over 20 years, with more than 3,000 teaching hours—and it still amazes me how transformative this work can be.

I’ve been where so many of my clients find themselves: an exhausted mom of three, holding my breath just trying to get through the day. I spent years pushing my needs aside, which left me in deep physical and emotional pain, battling panic attacks and overwhelmed by anxiety. I was scared to ask for help and convinced I didn’t have the time to take care of myself anyway.

That’s exactly why I do this work now—to help women like you feel at home in their bodies, to reclaim peace and presence while caring for the people you love. In my sessions, I guide clients to develop practical, accessible tools that help calm anxiety in the mind, body, and spirit. Through somatic awareness and nervous system support, women learn how to recognize their body’s cues—knowing when it’s time to pause, breathe, or take action—so stress doesn’t build into burnout or illness.

My yoga journey began in 1999 at the local YMCA, where I first experienced what it felt like to move without punishing my body. I discovered a new sense of freedom, mobility, and connection to the present moment. In the beginning, it was all about the poses—but over time, my practice evolved alongside me through pregnancy, parenting, aging, and simply living life.

I started teaching yoga and pranayama (breathing practices) to my youth ministry students during retreats, and later, to high school students before big exams. They often asked for calming breaths before tests—and they always performed better when they felt calmer.

In 2005, I completed my yoga teacher training with the Living Yoga Program in Austin, TX. I started teaching right away—then got pregnant almost immediately and had to pause due to a difficult pregnancy. I returned to teaching in 2007, when my son was six months old. Since then, I’ve taught people ages 2 to 95, always striving to meet each body with respect, curiosity, and compassion. In every class and session, I aim to help people find the balance of challenge and ease—what we call in yoga, “finding your edge.”

To me, that edge is like standing at the rim of a breathtaking vista: it might feel a little scary, but it’s also where you experience the most awe, perspective, and growth.

I hold a BA in Psychology and an MA in Spirituality from Santa Clara University. Before becoming a full-time yoga and somatic therapist, I served as a high school youth minister and religious studies teacher. I have deep experience in leading retreats, workshops, and small and large groups.

I’m a certified Group Exercise Instructor through AFAA, and have taught everything from kickboxing to resistance training. I’m also a certified Reembody Method Practitioner—a movement system rooted in science and anthropology that identifies and shifts patterns in the body to reduce pain and improve ease and efficiency. As a certified life coach, I integrate mindful movement to help clients discern their “next right step” with greater clarity.

I’m a lifelong learner, always exploring new somatic healing methods, nervous system education, and body-based therapeutic tools.

It would be an honor to work with you on your journey toward greater calm, clarity, and connection—with yourself and your life.
